Background Info

On October 30, 2016, John and I embarked on a 6-day cruise on the Carnival Ecstasy from Charleston, SC.  There were originally supposed to be 3 of us cruising.  John's 90-year-old grandmother was supposed to join us, but due to some outside interference, had to cancel going.  We were booked in a handicap accessible cabin on the Empress Deck - Deck 7.  Our cabin was E-69.  It was right behind the Guest Services Desk. And on the same level as the Atrium, Guest Services, and Shore Excursions Desk.  We absolutely LOVED this location - the deck and the actual cabin location.  It was so convenient for everything we wanted to do and go see.  On previous cruises, we had only stayed on the Main Deck - Deck 5.  We are now hooked on the Empress Deck and will book any future cruises on this deck.

The Carnival Ecstasy is a Fantasy Class Ship.  It is one of the older ships and is smaller than the ones that are being built now.  However, we both like this size - not too big and not too small.  Just the right size for us with just the right amount of activities to do and things to see.  In the past, we have sailed on 2 other Fantasy Class Ships - the Fascination from Jacksonville in June, 2009 and the Fantasy from Charleston in February, 2011 and December, 2012.  All the Fantasy Class Ships have the same exact layout so it was almost like we were "home" during the week.  The only thing that is different from ship to ship are the way they are decorated and the names of the public spaces.  For example: On the Fantasy, the piano bar is the Cleopatra Bar and has an Egyptian theme.  On the Ecstasy, it is the Neon Bar and has neon lights all over the place.  The same applies to the other public spaces on the ship.
